Housewife 49'
For the construction element of our Housewife 49' project, we were instructed to make a 1940's day dress designed by another classmate. I started by taking my performers measurements and making alterations to basic bodice and skirt blocks. I then made a toile to check my measurements were correct before sourcing material to construct a finished day dress.
Here are some photos of my dress whilst making. I tried to stay as close to the design as possible, however if i were to repeat this project I'd opt for a more expensive, 40's looking material. I do however enjoy the reversible collar and binding on this dress.
